BULLY PREMIERE: fD - The Sun Will Set EP
What’s fD all about?
My government name, Fabio Dessena, but my name is long and hella people say it wrong. The lower case f represents being the underdog of the scene and even in life, just being rated less.
Where you from?
I’m Half Italian, half South African, hence the name. I moved from SA when I was 2 years old to West Sussex United Kingdom, a county just outside of London. In a small town called Crawley, Shout out Crawley shout out the Southside of the country too.
When did you get into music & rapping?
My love for rap and hip/hop really came around 11 years old. I found tumblr which I always say on note, pretty much pathed a lott of my inspiration and love for the scene. This was around the time I found Mac Miller, A$AP Rocky, Tory Lanez, hella fashion hella underground things)... so from around 11 I started to love music.
Then at high school me and my peoples would just rap all the time, rap at lunch, rap after school, rap in lesson, making beats on the table we were all perfecting our craft without us even knowing.
You’re of this new generation yet your sound has an old school vibe? Where does that come from being so young ?
So I like to say my sound is like the new hip hop, because not only does it sound old school, all my beat selection is new school and has my UK SLANG over the top, so its this random array of sounds and words which just works really. Old school inspirations mainly are Biggie, I like Biggie's lyrics, his deeper voice, which is very similar to me.
What came first, modelling or music?
Music came first in my heart and mind, and in my life. modelling popped off first after I got scouted at 17 shout out Reuben Selby for changing my life, thats a whole another story, but my music career came in the modelling career, so I think couple months after i got scouted I started releasing music.
Is fashion something that inspires your music ?
Fashion definitely inspires my music, growing up on tumblr didn't help because I come from humble beginnings and no money, so all I was seeing was all these nice clothes and this was the PYREX era, like JERMEY SCOTT ADIDAS, Nigo just left BAPE, BBC was on smoke back then. All we knew was tracksuits, raggy jeans, couple hoodies nothing too major.
As I grew older and got money I started to experiment, but staying true to my core, you will always catch me in a nice tracksuit thats compulsory however you will never catch me bummy hands down. I love fashion, I love expressing myself. Shopping inspires me, finding new pieces inspires me, changing styles, testing styles it all inspires me. We all know if you pull off a look, you know it’s fire period. As I grow older the more my style grows.
What’s in the future for fD?
What’s in the future for me? I’m from the future so I already know!! Firstly we started my 3 song EP The Sun Will Set. A single dropping every single month from September to December, You up? First then followed SHARK ATTACK, Then one more single Coming mid December, End of December the singles will be grouped into the final EP. But no The future holds alot of opportunity and a-lot of good things, I believe in Law of attraction and i put in the work hands down, no one is putting in hours like me, and I know how the universe goes, whatever you give comes back, I am giving my all so On god Its going to be a good future for the boy.
